Aussie Alert!

I've been informed by friends living "Down Under" that DriveTime will be featured on this week's episode of Beyond Tomorrow, the Australian science and technology program. It airs Wednesday night in Australia, which is who-knows-when in Boston (some time on Tuesday?!) I welcome any reviews from Australian residents.

Long-time DriveTime viewers will remember when Kim Watkins took a ride in Studio-A last November.

Update:
Read the official preview description on the Yahoo7 page (note the reference to the "ageing Audi").

We hear you ravi… . We are watching your episodes but the bandwidth allocation to this part of the world from your servers are quite narrow, some times it take up to 45min. so how about publish a low resolution edit or Divx format edit.

Don't..

Niran? Are you okay?! I hope you didn't knocked out in mid-comment...

In general, what you get *is* the low-resolution edit. I try to siphon down the data rate and frame rate to make the video files a little smaller.

G'day to all new Aussie viewers!

And thanks for the insights and "fresh" comments about DriveTime. I was previously thinking I really wanted to see the Beyond Tomorrow segment on DriveTime, but after reading these comments, I think I want to see the segment with the coffee lid invention!

Forget videoblogging -- I'm going into hot beverage lids! ;-)

Thanks for the sleuthing to find the site (and a shame they didn't have the correct URL in the broadcast?) You can also find the episodes through various aggregators (ie. FireAnt, iTunes), but I definitely appreciate the comments here (good and bad!)

We will *definitely* do some sort of shout out to our new mates Down Under in a future episode!

The Beyond Tomorrow description says:

"Even though his guests are ordinary people talking about ordinary things..."

What?! I wonder how they describe their own show then? You've had on artists, musicians, actors, a gallery owner, a cultural critic, the founder of a mobile social networking co, a radio producer, and more. It's not like you have your neighbor Joe talk about his last outing to the grocery store!

How are your guests more ordinary than theirs? On their latest episode they had a guy talking about a new coffee cup lid he invented. Hmmm, artists or useless-item-inventor. Give me your show anyday!

On the other hand, you did have one ordinary person on, who I consider to be your worst guest ever--Kim Watkins (host of Beyond Tomorrow) was dull! She had nothing to contribute--no ideas of her own.

Blogger Ravi said...

Thanks David -- you may soon be crowned the official DriveTime publicist. You can tout it better than I can!

To be fair, I think Kim did fine. She had flown from who knows where the day before and still was chipper as can be -- though I did sense some hesitancy from her to shift from interviewer to interviewee.

Your a legend. just watch how many video bloggers start up now. You just got coverage to over I would say quite a few million Australians. :)

Hello Ravi, Another Aussie to add to your collection.

It's very hard to think of new ideas for websites. It's great to see some fresh ideas still coming out.

I also think the reason why Kim wasn't as interesting as the other guests is because she still had to be the presenter for the TV show, so she probably couldn't be as relaxed and had to have a degree of professionalism.

David: They wouldn't have down played the importance of the guests on purpose, they would have tried to make it sound like a great website, but you can only fit so much in a description. Plus the description is for people who probably wouldn't know the guests as well as people from the same country as this blog.

Once again, great job with the fresh idea Ravi. :D
